Graygor et al. 2023. Eastern Blind Brook hosts a healthier riparian forest structure than western Blind Brook

Abstract.

Riparian forests are one of the most disturbed ecosystems in the world. Old growth riverside forests in the Northeast are threatened by urban development and invasive plant growth. At SUNY Purchase campus I have studied and compared the differences between two riparian forests on the East and West branches of Blind Brook. I have found that the East branch’s forest consists of significantly more native tree species’, trees per hectare, and larger native tree species than the West branch’s forest.
