backstory: Ursula von Rydingsvard

Ursula von Rydingsvard sends cardboard notecards to friends and colleagues as thank yous and as hellos.
Mine sits on my desk at home. Our Chief Curator, Helaine Posner, has worked with Ursula many times over the years and she shared with me one of her cardboard notes from Ursula and the story behind it:

“In the photo, I’m on the far left, next to my husband, David Dorsky. Then there’s Ursula, and then to the right of her, the artist Judy Pfaff. We were at a party at Ursula’s studio and I was wearing my bright orange dress, which I love, but which, admittedly is pretty bold. Just before the photo was taken, Ursula leaned over and said to me, ‘Helaine… in that dress… you look like a traffic cone.’”
