The Office of International Programs and Services (OIPS) provides support for international students from their arrival in the U.S. through completion of their studies, as well as administering and advising on study abroad programs.
The office provides comprehensive advising services for international students, as well as for international faculty and staff members on professional visas. Advising may relate to immigration issues, cultural adjustment, or student employment options. Student programming may be cultural, social, or cocurricular and may include such activities as picnics, receptions, or other events, as well as workshops on U.S. culture, health care, education, immigration, or taxes.
The OIPS is also the resource for information on study abroad programs. Students are advised on Purchase College exchanges and short-term study abroad programs, or study abroad through one of the 650 SUNY programs. The OIPS sponsors informational events such as the study abroad fair, country-specific meetings, exchange information sessions, and predeparture events and can assist students with program selection, applications, and scholarship information.
