SUNY Group Long-Term Disability Insurance Program

Upon completion of one year of full-time service with the college, faculty and professional staff are automatically enrolled in the group long-term disability plan offered through the Standard Life Insurance Company of New York. Part-time faculty and staff who are eligible for health insurance are also enrolled after one year of service. There is no cost to employees for this coverage as all premiums are currently paid for by SUNY.

The objective of this plan is to ensure that a substantial portion of your income will be protected in the event of a catastrophic illness or injury of long-term duration. The plan provides for an income of 60 percent of your basic monthly salary, up to a maximum of $7,500 per month, and also contributes a monthly premium to your retirement account while disabled. Benefits begin following six months of total disability.
