WHAT TO EXPECT

Orientation is one day of fast-paced programming designed to introduce you to your academic program, faculty and administrators, and fellow classmates. 

At Orientation you will be a part of a group of talented graduate students  who are excited to start their Purchase journey. For the majority of the day, you will participate in program meetings and finish up any advising and registration. You will also have the opportunity to complete any last-minute business before the start of classes on August 25th. 

If you are going to be living on campus for the Fall semester, please plan on checking in at your place of residence between 9:00am - 11:00am on August 20th.  There will be staff available at each apartment complex to assist with check in.  Orientation check-in will take place between 11:00am - 12:00pm on Friday, August 22, 2014.  Follow the signs on campus directing you to park in the W-2 Parking lot and check-in at the Music Building.

SCHEDULE

Wednesday, August 20—Students who will be living on campus will check in at their places of residence between 9:00am-11:00am

Friday, August 22—Art+Design graduate students meet in the Visual Arts Building room 2001 at 2:00pm for orientation and advisement

                             Art History graduate students meet in Fort Awesome room 133 at 10:00am for orientation and advisement

                 Music graduate students meet in the Music Building main office at 2:00pm for orientation and advisement                 

Monday, August 25—Classes begin

Wednesday, August 27—Art+Design, Art History and Music Graduate Student/Faculty Cookout on Administrative Building lawn from 4:30-6:30pm

FAQ

I never received an email about Orientation. What do I do?
All orientation communications are being sent to your Purchase email account starting in late May. If you have checked your purchase email account starting in May and do not have an email, please contact us at (914) 251-6332 or orientation@purchase.edu.


*If you just paid your deposit to the college, it may take 3-4 business days for you to receive your invitation to orientation.


What is the fee for Student Orientation?
The fee for Student Orientation is $77. It is a mandatory fee that is applied to your Fall semester bill does not need to be paid separately. The Student Orientation fee is non-refundable if you do not attend Orientation.


Where will I be living for the 2014-2015 semester?
Housing assignments will be mailed out by the Office of Residence Life in early-August. If you have any questions about residence life please contact them at (914) 251-6320.


When can I register for classes?
Graduate students will receive an email in late-May with instructions on how to register for classes. Please be aware that there will be some advising and registration that will take place at orientation.


I am having problems setting up my Purchase email account!
