Professional certificate programs are ideal for busy adults who are seeking a career change, honing career skills, or pursuing a passion and want a focused course of study that can be completed within a short timeframe. The School of Liberal Studies & Continuing Education offers both noncredit and credit professional certificate programs.

Students may take individual courses without commitment to an entire program, or complete the program requirements and earn a certificate.

Noncredit Professional Certificate Programs

With the completion of most noncredit certificate programs, you will be awarded continuing education units (CEUs) and a certificate of completion to demonstrate the time and effort you have dedicated to your professional development. Some programs also include national certification. We offer a variety of noncredit certificate programs, including:

Credit Professional Certificate Programs

The Value of a Noncredit Certificate

A noncredit certificate program may be an efficient way to advance your career:

  • Expand your expertise when the time commitment needed to complete a degree program is not an option.
  • Our programs are designed to fit the schedules of busy professionals.
  • A certificate program offers in-depth knowledge and unique insights in specific fields of study.
  • Achieve specific career goals and become acquainted with the latest skills, knowledge, and trends.
  • Students in the noncredit professional certificate programs earn a certificate of completion reflecting the continuing education units (CEUs).

Continuing Education Units (CEUs)

Continuing education units (CEUs) are a way of measuring and officially recognizing the time and effort you have put into your education for your job or profession. As you update your credentials, are in line for a transfer, promotion, or evaluation of your current position, or want to make a vocational change or explore a new career, the CEUs recognize student achievement in noncredit learning activities.

The School of Liberal Studies & Continuing Education awards CEUs upon completion of a noncredit professional certificate program. The number of CEUs earned is reflected on each certificate. One CEU represents 10 contact hours of participation in an organized continuing education program. CEUs are measured as whole units.

For Certified Fundraising Executives (CFRE)

The curricula for the noncredit professional certificate programs in fundraising and board development and nonprofit management have been approved for continuing education points by CFRE International. The number of CFRE points varies by program.

Hybrid and Online Courses

Some certificate programs are offered partly or completely in an online or hybrid course format. Contact us to request information about these and other continuing education programs offered.
