The liberal studies degree completion program is designed for adults and transfer students who need to complete their degree within a tight timeframe and who are looking for a flexible schedule. To accelerate the process of achieving a bachelor’s degree, the program accepts up to 90 transfer credits from accredited colleges and institutions.

FINANCIAL AID for LIBERAL STUDIES DEGREE STUDENTS

Full-time and part-time liberal studies students are encouraged to apply for financial aid and may be eligible for TAP awards, Pell Grants, and student loans. Part-time liberal studies students may also be eligible for a New York State Aid for Part-Time Study (APTS) award.

  • Go to www.fafsa.ed.gov to complete the required federal application.
  • The Federal School Code for Purchase College is 006791.
  • The recommended filing deadline is February 1.

SCHOLARSHIPS for LIBERAL STUDIES DEGREE STUDENTS

Purchase College Scholarships
Depending on funding availability, the School of Liberal Studies & Continuing Education awards scholarships each year to a selection of liberal studies students who:

  1. have completed at least 12 Purchase College credits.
  2. have completed at least 60 total credits (transfer and Purchase College)
  3. have a 3.25 or higher cumulative GPA at Purchase College
  4. demonstrate financial need as indicated by their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

Scholarships are not guaranteed and are subject to change each year. An additional requirement of all Purchase College students receiving scholarships is the completion of the FAFSA. The FAFSA must be filed by March 1 of each academic year to determine eligibility for these awards.

Private Scholarship Sources
Students often overlook the opportunity to receive private scholarships as a source of financial assistance. These may range from private foundations to employer matching funds.
