Denny Santos, Assistant Director
Denny earned his BA in sociology from Purchase College in 2004 and his MA in college student affairs leadership from Grand Valley State University in 2006. Denny joined Purchase in 2007 as the residence coordinator of the Olde apartment complex and made a transition to the Residence Hall in 2009. In addition to being the assistant director, he supervises a Capoeira group on-campus and is the advisor for Latinos Unidos.
Denny is a Manhattan native and a die-hard Mets fan.
Angela Kang, Assistant Director
Angela earned her BS in family studies in 2003 and her MA in education in 2005 from University of Connecticut at Storrs, CT. Angela started her career in Residence Life as a resident assistant in January of 2001. Since then she worked at Curry College in Milton, Mass., for one year in 2005. Angela arrived at Purchase College in January 2006 as a First-Year Experience residence coordinator, overseeing Crossroads. In 2010, Angela was promoted to the assistant director overseeing the apartments. Angela also served on the execute board of NEACUHO (Northeast Association of College and University Housing Officers) as a Metro NY District Coordinator from 2010 to 2012.
Angela is from Connecticut and enjoys watching the Food Network, which is available on campus cable TV.
Michelle Carvajal, Assistant Director
Michelle earned her BS in Business Administration in 2001 from Bryant University and her MBA from Fitchburg State University in 2003. Michelle has worked professionally in residence life for over 10 years, serving as a Resident Director, Area Coordinator, and Associate Director at various institutions in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New York. Her work has been spent supervising staff, counseling students, serving as a hearing officer and fulfilling operational needs.
Outside of work you will find Michelle practicing yoga at a local studio in Greenwich, CT.
Javon Noblin, Fort Awesome Residence Coordinator
Javon earned her BA in English in 2004 from Easter Connecticut State University. After working and living in Nashville, Tenn., as a residence hall director, she returned to the Northeast to obtain her MA in teaching. Javon attended Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Conn. While there, she worked as a graduate assistant, in the Office of Residence Life, as a residence hall director, and worked on her master's degree full-time. After completing her MA in 2008, Javon came to work at Purchase College, where she has also taught the Freshman Seminar, chaperoned two Purchase Alternative Service Trips (P.A.S.T) to New Orleans and Austin and worked on numerous service and volunteerism projects. In additional to her position in Residence Life, Javon also teaches College Writing.
Javon is a firm believer that a good laugh should be a mandatory daily activity. She is also addicted to Discover Fit & Health, the Animal Planet, and anything related to Disney's Princess and the Frog.
Joyce Arias, Crossroads Residence Coordinator
Joyce earned her BA in New Media in 2012 from Purchase College. While at Purchase, she served as a resident assistant in Big Haus for two years and a senior community assistant for Alumni and the Olde in her final year. Joyce joined the Residence Life team as a Residence Coordinator in January 2013 and is thrilled to continue her career working with students. Currently, she is pursuing her MA in Higher Education Administration from Stony Brook University.
On her off time, Joyce enjoys spending time with her loved ones, successfully completing DIY projects, finding the best places to eat and buzz feeding anywhere at anytime.
Valerie Hardt, Big Haus Residence Coordinator
Valerie earned her BA in psychology from Loyola College of Maryland in 2009 and her MS in college student development and counseling from Northeastern University in Boston in 2011. Valerie worked in Residence Life at Loyola College and Babson College as well as working in Off-Campus Student Services at Northeastern University before being hired as a residence coordinator at Purchase in August 2011.
Valerie is what many would consider an avid geek and, if you’re lucky when visiting her office, there’s chocolate hiding in the TARDIS on her desk.
Jenny Kim, Residence Coordinator Alumni Village
Jenny earned her BS in elementary education from Bucknell University and her MA in divinity from Regent University. She has worked in multiple higher education institutions before becoming the newest member of the Office of Residence Life team in the fall of 2012. Jenny enjoys working in the co-curricular field of student development and will often be found engaging in conversations with students throughout the campus.
When she is not working, she loves taking pictures and enjoys traveling and learning about different cultures and their food.
Eric Deserto, Graduate Assistant of Outback and Campus Center North
Eric earned his BA in Psychology from Purchase College in 2013. He served as a Resident Assistant for two years (2011-2013), and is the Graduate Assistant supervisor of Outback and Campus Center North for the 2013-2014 academic year. Eric is happy to be working closely with Javon Noblin, who is the Resident Coordinator of both areas in addition to the Fort (although she prefers you contact Eric with anything related Outback or Campus Center North first).
Some of Eric’s favorite things include (but are not limited to): whales and other cetaceans, strong female leads, hilarious things said by toddlers, inspirational key changes, successfully transferring a call from his office phone, crossing things off of his to-do list, and a nice strong cup of coffee.
Kellie Wood, Graduate Assistant in the Apartments
Kellie earned her BFA in Dramatic Writing from Purchase College in May of 2013. Kellie was a Resident Assistant for the Office of Residence Life from 2011-2013. She is currently the Graduate Assistant for Residence Life working in the apartments.
Kellie is from Connecticut and is an avid viewer of Law and Order: SVU and Pawn Stars.
Kyle Saud, Housing Coordinator
Kyle earned his BA in pyschology from Purchase College and his MA in computer applications to criminal justice in 2012 from John Jay College of Criminal Justice, City University of New York. Kyle served the Office of Residence Life as a community assistant (2007-2010) and as a graduate assistant (2011-2012) before being hired as a full-time employee in August 2012. In addition, he has served as assistant baseball coach (2010) and continues to work for the Athletic Department as a recreation supervisor.
Kyle is a native of southeast Georgia, still uses “ma'am” and “sir,” and is an avid runner.
John Byrnes, Office Manager, Apartments
John earned his AA in business/office management from Berkeley College in White Plains, N.Y., in 2002. John has served the Office of Residence Life as the J 2-1/Apartments office manager since 2003.
John is a huge sports fan and fantasy sports guru. He also participates in a variety of sports during the summer months.
