Layout/production
For a limited number of jobs, the Office of Publications is available to provide layout and production services. This means, you avoid the costs associated with a professional designer. We can work with the text you submit, provide artwork, and layout and produce a professional looking publication "in-house." The advantage is cost-savings. The disadvantages include: inflexible production schedules (it may take longer to produce your job); and a lower level of technical expertise than that which would be available to you through a professional designer or design firm.
In-House Projects
In-house projects are limited to simple pieces (tri-fold brochures, one- and two-color booklets, four- and eight-page newsletters, flyers, simple invitations, posters, etc.). Divisions or departments requesting "in-house" production services will be served on a first come, first serve basis. The more lead time you can provide the more likely the Publications Office will be able to produce the job "in house."
Pictures & Artwork
The Office of Publications maintains a large photo archive (including digital images, slides and prints). We can provide black & white or color images of students, academic environments, campus activities, faculty, and more. Whether you are producing a publication with us, or working with an outside consultant, we can help you select appropriate images for your project.
Costs
The costs associated with your job will vary depending on the publication. Your department will be "charged" (journal transfer) for materials and equipment use (including ink, paper, zip discs, scans, film, plates, color proofs, etc.) See the Print Shop Services Requisition for a detailed list of fees and services.
A NOTE ABOUT NCR paper:
Purchase College is actively working to reduce the volume of NCR paper used on campus. The paper is a serious environmental hazard. Please, whenever possible, avoid requesting or using NCR forms.
