Head Coach: Nelson Kwok (1st Year)

Nelson Kwok enters his first season at Purchase College in fall 2008.  He coached the varsity boys program at nearby Greenwich High School since 2007 and the girls team at Trumbull High since 2006 and boasts a successful coaching resume dating back to 1975.

He coached three squads at Trumbull this season where his girls’ team qualified for FCIACs. He also led the squad to the second round of the State Tournament for Class LL for the first time in school history. Several members of that team were honored with All-FCIAC selections.

Prior to his stints at Greenwich and Trumbull, Kwok was the assistant varsity coach at St. Joseph from 2006-06 and served both as the junior varsity coach and middle school girls coach for Green Farms Academy in 2005. He also coached the varsity girls’ team at New Fairfield High School in fall 2004.

Kwok was a setter on UC Berkeley’s USVBA club team from 1977-80 and a setter/defensive specialist at the City College of San Francisco from 1975-77 where he later served as an assistant coach to the women’s team from 1975-76. Kwok received his BA in celularl biology from UC Berkeley and an Associate degree in photography from the City College of San Francisco.

In addition to his coaching posts, Kwok is a director for the Eagle Camp at Trumbull High and has coached at prestigious camps such as the Nike Volleyball Camp at Fairfield University and the Future Stars Camp at Darien High School.

In his spare time, Kwok is a freelance photographer based in New York City and Fairfield, CT.
