The physical education program places major emphasis on the acquisition of knowledge and skills in lifetime activities. Self-discovery and physical development are underlying themes, and students have the freedom to progress at an individual pace and level of accomplishment.
One to two credits in health and wellness, currently required in the undergraduate core curriculum at Purchase College, may be earned through approved physical education courses and membership on intercollegiate athletic teams.
In some academic years, the College may not be able to offer a full complement of physical education courses for credit. Lack of availability of credit courses will not prevent students from graduating in a timely fashion. For waivers, students should consult the registrar or the office of their school or conservatory.
