Follow these instructions when applying to Purchase College as a Transfer Design/Technology applicant.
Note: International Applicants must follow the international application instructions.
Note: Transfer students who were enrolled in an Educational Opportunity Program (EOP), Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP), College Discovery (CD) or similar special program at their initial college should review the Educational Opportunity Program portion of this website.
Step 1: Submit your completed application for the Fall 2007 semester by March 9, 2008

Step 3: Interview and Portfolio
An interview is required as part of the application process. You will receive specific information on how to schedule your interview upon receipt of your application. Please note that a $45 interview fee must be paid in advance or at the time of the interview.

*New York City interviews cannot be scheduled for residents of the New York Metropolitan Area.
In preparation for your interview, you should do the following:
1.Read the Tennessee Williams play, Night of the Iguana. Questions about this play will be asked during the interview.
2.Prepare a resume, which includes a complete list of your theatrical experiences. It should include titles of works, duties performed, locations of performance and the name of directors, designers and stage managers with whom you have worked. Bring three copies of your resume with you to the interview.
3.Prepare and bring with you to the interview, a portfolio that includes examples of design and/or technical work that you have done in high school, community theatres, summer stock, or at other colleges.
4.Your portfolio should reflect one of the following potential areas of specialization:
Costume Design, Lighting Design, Scene Design, Technical Direction or Stage Management. Candidates will be asked to indicate their proposed area of specialization.
For the interview, you will be required to read a play and will be asked questions about the script during the course of the interview. Please bring two letters of recommendation with you when you come for the interview.
Design/Technology applicants are also required to present a portfolio at the time of the interview. Your portfolio should reflect your interest in one of the following areas:
Costume Design
Drawings, paintings, and/or garments that you have made. These items need not be theatrical.
Lighting Design
Drawings, paintings, photography, drafting plots, lighting plots.
Scene Design/Art Direction
Drawings, paintings, still life or still life studies, drafting designs.
Stage Management
Prompt scripts, cue sheets, ground plans, rehearsal notes, programs.
Technical Direction/Production Management
Drafting Samples, objects that you have built.
