Sculpture: Objects and Site
This class will use the local architecture and environment as inspiration for making sculpture. We will focus on the basics of building form in response to the natural and built landscape. Using indigenous materials combined with plaster objects we create in class, students will explore the essentials of sculptural development from idea to solid creation. Carving, drawing and building from natural materials will all be combined in individual and group projects. This class is suitable for beginning to advanced students. Studio work will be supplemented by slide talks that look at relevant examples of classical and modern sculpture. Students will need to bring a few chisels, a drawing pad, and some pencils. School will need to supply plaster, and a room to work. (4 credits)
