Dr. Karen Baird is an associate professor of political science in the School of Natural and
Social Sciences and a member of the interdisciplinary women's studies faculty. Her interests include women and health care and public policy, women and medical research policies, and feminist theory. Among her awards is the Purchase College President's Award for Junior Faculty Development and a National Science Foundation grant for her research on women and NIH and FDA medical research polices.

Research Interests
Present research interests include investigating NIH and FDA medical research policies - How and why they were changed in the early 1990s to include women as subjects, and the contemporary women's health movement.
