New! 3-D Video Game and MakerLab Creations

sci-fi video game action figureGrades 4–8

Typical Day

Location: Library, Room 1004C

Develop a game concept that goes well beyond the limitations of traditional 2-D game design classes. Learn the physics behind 3-D games, explore beginner event scripting, level design, controlling flow of game play, and storytelling. Design your first action figure, fashion custom jewelry, or a new creation! Using professional-level modeling software, sculpt, texture, and learn to render your own 3-D creation. If you can dream it, you can make it!

To broaden exposure to the arts, 3-D Video Game and MakerLab Creations can be combined with Minecraft™ Animators and Modders (updated!), Code Breakers and App Designers, Creating Comic Books, Young Journalists, Young Architects, Youth Musical Theatre, Shakespeare Workshop, Young Filmmakers, Creative Vocal Lab, and/or Vocal Intensive to make for a well-rounded summer experience.

Session I: June 27–July 8
Monday–Friday, 9:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m.
$1,100 for the first registration
$990 for the second registration in the family, Purchase College employees and alumni, and early registrations (received by May 6, 2016)

About the Instructors

This program is designed by Black Rocket, an educational technology company that specializes in emerging technologies and instruction. Black Rocket has more than a decade of experience designing camps in the STEM and digital arts fields. Every program is powered by the campers’ innate imaginations and designed to bring their ideas to life in a fun, hands-on learning environment. From concept to creation, students will demonstrate their masterpiece to the world at the end of each week! All Black Rocket programs mirror real-life experiences and the collaborative nature of the design process. Students will work in pairs or teams for most of the program.
