General Transfer Credit Policies

International Students

Graduates of RCC and those who have earned approximately 60 transfer credits at other accredited colleges and universities are eligible to apply for admission to the Purchase College at Rockland Community College Liberal Studies B.A. Degree Program.

General Transfer Credit Policies

  • 75 is the maximum number of transferable credits from two-year colleges.
  • 90 is the total maximum number of transferable credits (if at least 15 credits are junior and/or senior level).
  • Additional transfer policies exist; please consult with an advisor.

The Steps to Matriculation
International students, please refer to the note below.

  1. Apply Online for Admission:
    • Go to www.suny.edu/student > “Apply Online” > “Enter SUNY System” > and create your log-in account.
    • Choose to be a transfer student, to Purchase College, the semester, and the appropriate major* in the School of Liberal Studies.

    • Pay the $40 application fee (waived for graduates from RCC and other two-year SUNY schools who apply directly to a SUNY baccalaureate program),
     
  2. Have Your Official Transcripts Mailed:
    • Official transcripts are signed, sealed (not opened by the student), and mailed directly by the school to the Office of Admissions at Purchase College.
    • Required: Official transcripts from each college you have attended
    • Required under certain conditions: Official high school transcripts (or GED scores)
     
  3. Write and Mail Your Essay:
    • Essay question:
      Why are you a good candidate for the Purchase College at Rockland Community College Liberal Studies B.A. Degree Program? Include information about non-academic and work/life experience as well as activities during any breaks in your education.
    • Mail your required essay directly to Office of Admissions at Purchase College.
     
  4. SAT Scores and Letters of Recommendation:
    These are optional and are sent directly to Office of Admissions at Purchase College.
