Drawing From Nature
Designed for all levels, beginning through advanced, this course uses the Purchase campus and environs as its subject. Students work with a variety of drawing materials, developing their abilities to observe and interpret landscape.
Note: The class meets in the studio for the first session and during inclement weather. Students are responsible for providing their own transportation to off-campus sites.

Introduction to Modern Art (elective)
The work of Courbet, Manet, and the circle of the Impressionists sets the stage for the revolutionary modern movements of the 20th century (e.g., Cubism, Expressionism, Dada, Surrealism). The course concludes with those artists who came to prominence in America at the time of World War II. Syllabus
