Scholarship Opportunities

Finding funding to study abroad can be challenging.  Students  looking for scholarship sources that are not tied to particular programs might try one of the following options.  Students are advised to plan ahead as all scholarships have early application deadlines.

• Benjamin A.Gilman:  supports Pell grant recipients for non-traditional study abroad destinations (especially those outside Western Europe, Australia, and New Zealand). 
  
• World Affairs Forum's Norman Woodberry Scholarship.: For study abroad students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher who are attending an institution in Westchester or Fairfield County Connecticut, or who are residents of the counties  
  
• NSEP David L. Boren Scholarship awards for undergraduates or NSEP David L. Boren Fellowship grants for graduate students who are planning to study under-represented languages or other disciplines deemed critical to U.S. security. These scholarships have a service requirement upon graduation.
  
• Rotary International Ambassadorial Scholarship offers several worldwide scholarships that vary in length and focus.
  
• Bridging Scholarship for study in Japan
  
• DAAD Scholarships  for graduate and undergraduate study in Germany
  
• American-Scandinavian Foundation for graduate study in Scandinavian countries
  
• Marshall Scholarships for graduate study in Britain.
  
• Fulbright Scholar Program for scholarly work and teaching assistantships abroad 

Some programs have scholarships specific to that program, such as the SUNY Albany programs in Denmark or SUNY Brockport programs in Ghana.  Check with program administrators regarding grant or scholarship availability.
