Purchase College Overseas Programs

All students at Purchase College are encouraged to participate in the College's summer programs in  France, Italy, Spain, and Turkey. Students from other colleges are welcome to apply as well.  More detail about Purchase College Summer Study Abroad Programs:

      • courses that fulfill major, Purchase core curriculum, and SUNY general education
      • for SUNY students, credits earned count toward graduation requirements
      • Early applications are recommended!

A statement of estimated fees accompanies each program description. Students should make their own arrangements regarding financial aid for summer or academic year programs with the financial aid office on their campus.

Purchase College Exchanges
Current eligible Purchase College conservatory students might opt for an exchange in a wide variety of disciplines in Australia, Mexico, the Netherlands, England, or Scotland. Tuition is paid to Purchase College, so only living expenses and academic fees are paid abroad.

SUNY Programs

In addition, eligible Purchase College students may take advantage of hundreds of programs offered in over 60 countries through the State University of New York (SUNY) colleges and universities. Additional pluses of the SUNY programs abroad:

  • courses offered in a wide variety of disciplines 
  • new courses are added every year
  • courses that fulfill major, Purchase core curriculum, and SUNY general education
  • for SUNY students, credits earned count toward graduation requirements
  • prices are affordable
  • most financial aid can be used for SUNY programs.


Eligibility Requirements

Purchase College believes that studying abroad is an opportunity that everyone should have. It's important to plan academically, fiscally, and to research your eligibility and options for study abroad well in advance.

Students on academic or disciplinary probation are ineligible while on probation. Students should consult the college catalog (Academic Policies: Off-Campus Study) for more detailed information about study abroad approval.

Graduate Programs

Many students opt to study or work abroad after completing an undergraduate degree and there are manyoptions available through SUNY colleges and universities. An interesting and challenging alternative is to become a Peace Corps worker in a developing country.

Passports and Visas

All international travelers must have a passport. U.S. citizens should consult the U.S. Department of State for information about obtaining a passport. Issuance of passports can take 6 weeks so students are recommended to plan ahead. Citizens of other countries should consult their consulates for passport information.
