The Theatre Design/Technology B.F.A. Program:
Stage Management Concentration

The stage manager is responsible for managing the rehearsal process of a production and acting as the liaison between the rehearsal process and the members of the production team. In many cases, the stage manager is the one person working on a production who is responsible for coordination between all areas of a production. The stage manager is responsible for scheduling rehearsals and production meetings; tracking of blocking, props, scenic, and lighting changes; and a lengthy list of other duties. Working with the director, designers, and other members of the production, the stage manager plays a significant role in bringing a production together as a whole.

Academic Requirements

Revised: In addition to meeting general degree requirements, all undergraduate theatre design/technology majors concentrating in stage management must complete the following requirements (96 credits for students declaring in Fall 2011; 96.5 credits for students declaring in Fall 2012). THC 1050 (freshman year) and THC 2010 may be counted toward the liberal arts requirement (30 credits minimum) for the B.F.A. degree.

Freshman year: 25 credits
The freshman year requirements are the same for all undergraduate theatre design/technology majors.

• TDT 3350 added as a requirement (junior year/fall semester), a .5 credit increase

Effective Fall 2011:

• TAC 1050/Acting Workshop is no longer required (sophomore/fall, 2 credits)
• TDT 2080/Theatre Technology II added as a requirement (junior/fall, 3 credits)
• TDT 2200/Scene Design I is no longer required (junior/fall, 3 credits)
