How to Apply for Admission
to the Conservatory of Music

In order to be considered for admission all applicants must:

1. Apply to Purchase College. Your application for admission must be submitted before beginning the audition process.
2. Audition for the Conservatory of Music.

The Conservatory of music offers programs in Instrumental Performance, Jazz Studies, Voice/Opera Studies, Composition, Studio Composition, and Studio Production.

All programs require a two-step audition process.

The first step is a recorded audition. Your prescreening CD and the $56 nonrefundable audition checks (payable to "Conservatory of Music, Purchase College") should be mailed to: 

Conservatory of Music.
Conservatory Coordinator.

Purchase, NY 10577 

Your CD/DVD must be clearly labeled with the following information:

- First and Last Name as it appears on the SUNY application for admission
- Address as it appears on the SUNY application for admission
- Email and Cell phone number that you submitted on your SUNY application
- Intended major and instrument (if applicable)
- Title and duration of each music selection

PRE-SCREENING AUDITION MATERIALS RECEIVED WITHOUT THE ABOVE INFORMATION AND/OR THE AUDITION FEE WILL NOT BE PROCESSED.

If the pre-screening audition is successful, students will be selected for a live audition. Students selected for live auditions will be notified by email directly from the Conservatory of Music and will be assigned a live audition date at that time.

All live auditions take place in the Music Building on campus and are scheduled to take place the week of February 15-20, 2010.

Once the pre-screening CD is received and evaluated by our faculty, and if a live audition is required, the Conservatory of Music staff will contact you via email to schedule your live audition.
