Repeating a Course

For detailed information, please refer to “R (Repeat)” in the Grading System section of the Purchase College Catalog.

A course cannot be taken twice for credit towards graduation unless there has been a significant change in the course content and permission has been given by the registrar before registering for the course. Courses that are repeated to replace an unsatisfactory grade do not count as “double credit.” When repeating a course, the new credits replace the previous credits from the course—and the new grade replaces the previous grade, which can boost your GPA.
