Minor in Playwriting

The minor in playwriting is designed for students in all disciplines who want to explore and develop skills in writing for the stage. Students interested in the minor must submit a completed Application for a Program of Minor Study. Upon admission to the minor, the student will be assigned a minor advisor from the playwriting faculty.

Academic Requirements for the Minor in Playwriting
Five courses, to include:

  • DWR 1000/Playwriting I (4 credits)
  • THP 2885/Theatre Histories I or
    THP 2890/Theatre Histories II (3 credits)
  • DWR 2010/Playwriting II (4 credits)
  • Plus two of the following courses:
    DWR 1250/Plays and Playgoing (4 credits)
    THP 2205/Shakespeare Then and Now (3 credits)
    DWR 2500/The Collaborative Process (3 credits)
    THP 2885/Theatre Histories I or THP 2890/Theatre Histories II (3 credits)
    DWR 3200/Playwriting III (4 credits)
