Elena Sisto: Visiting Artist Lecture Series
10/23/13
6:30 PM   -  8:30 PM
Visual Arts 1016

Elena Sisto aims to invest the paintings with the real weight of experience, but keep the figures emblematic. A character in Sisto's world is a persona rather than a person. Her content-development process fluctuates between the pop culture/social (signified by the abstracted language of cartoon) and the personal (signified by elements of realism). There's a touch of cubism as well. She finds an interiority through fracturing and simultaneity, seeking to avoid using a specific narrative to spell things out.

The School of Art+Design Visiting Artist Lecture Series brings to campus noted artists, curators, critics and historians who share their perspectives and expertise on their own work and provide insight into current issues facing the contemporary artist and designer.

WHEN: Wednesdays at 6:30PM (unless otherwise indicated)
