APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Purchase College welcomes students from foreign countries who may qualify for any of the degree programs offered. International students are required to complete the International Student Application forms, which are available in the Undergraduate Application and the Graduate Application.

Undergraduate applications should be mailed to:

Graduate applications and all other supplemental materials must be sent directly to:

International students need to carefully review the application deadlines below and the requirements for admission to the program of choice (see Application Instructions ). International students are required to submit the following as part of their application:

  1. A summary of their educational history, including the names of examinations passed, and certificates, diplomas, or degrees earned
  2. Provide all the information requested on the Foreign Student Financial statement. Carefully document the sources of financial support as requested in Part II. this form is for those students who are in need of a student visa. If you are presently on a B-2 visa, or J-1 exchange-visa, or F-1 student visa you will need to complete the financial support form and send statement(s) showing showing financial documentation while studying in the United States. Also, if you have a sponsor, they must provide a bank statement that shows that actual amount in the account(s) and all sponsors must sign the financial support form. Purchase does not offer financial aid to International Students.

    All applicants seeking an F-1 student visa are required to demonstrate that U.S. $22,590 is available to pay for their education.

  3. Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), with a minimum score of 550 paper-based or 213 computer-based.
  4. Official transcripts and translations for secondary and post-secondary education completed.
  5. An autobiographical essay.
  6. English Proficiency Report.
  7. International Transfer Form (All students applying to Purchase who currently attend a high school, university or language institute in the United States must submit the International Transfer Form.

Note: These programs may close prior to the deadline. Therefore, international students are advised to submit their applications by the recommended date (January 1 for fall admission, October 1 for spring admission).

All applications must be received by the Application Processing Center in Albany on or prior to the date listed above. (Please leave sufficient time to ensure receipt and return of the additional forms.) Incomplete applications will be withdrawn and applications received past the deadline will be returned to the student.
