How to Advertise with the Independent

The Purchase Independent is a free weekly student-run newspaper producing 1000 copies a week. We print in color and black and white on tabloid sized paper. The typical issue is 12 pages.

Our audience is exclusively students at the State University of New York at Purchase College, co-eds 18-25.

The prices and dimensions for advertisments are as follows:
Quarter Page: (2.5" X 5"): $40/week (3 Weeks/$100)
Page 2: (6" X 3") $50/week (3 Weeks/$125)
Column: (2.5" X 10") $75/week (or 3 Weeks/$200)
Half Page: (7 3?4" x 4") $100/ week
Back Page: (always in color) (7 3/4" x 2") $100/week
Full Page: (7 3/4 " X 10") $200/week

Color ads are not necessarily more money. The Back Page is always in color, but because it has such high visibility, (and is perhaps the most popular part of the newspaper) it's our highest price. We suggest submitting ads in both color and black and white, and if an opportunity comes to print the ads in color, we will take it.

If your company has a pre-designed image, JPEGs and TIFFs with 300 DPI are the best formats for us to work with. In certain cases, our design team may create an image for a company that does not have the resources to do so.

Advertisers who agree to take out an ad in The Independent are guaranteed whatever spot they agree on, and cannot be moved or re-arranged depending on the content of the issue.

All submissions, as well as JPEG/TIFF files and payment are due by The Independent's press time, which is 11:59 pm every Monday. The paper is printed every Wednesday night and released to the public early Thursday mornings.
