Please note that the Visitor Wi-Fi networks (old PurchaseVisitor and new PurchaseGuest) are intended for campus visitors who do not have Purchase College credentials (ID and Passsword) and therefore provide more limited access than the new PurchaseWifi and old PurchaseWireless Wi-Fi networks.
Wifi Upgrade for Academic Buildings
We started in the Social Science building, and we plan to continue on to the Library next, followed by Visual Arts (as soon as we can access the space, which is currently under construction.) We have also disabled the Bradford End-point Security tool on all (old and new) Wi-Fi networks. Unfortunately, Bradford does not yet support the new Cisco Controllers we are using, though they hope to support them by the end of the calendar year. Bradford is the only proactive tool available to inspect computers and ensure that they contain current OS-security patches and anti-virus software – thus preventing malware-infested computers from joining our network. Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding as we work to improve this important technology service for the campus.

Frequently Asked Questions:
These upgrades will result in improved wireless coverage and better performance. Most notably, 802.11n 2.4GHz and 5GHz service will be provided at locations with wireless service.
When will each building on campus be upgraded?
CTS will be doing a staggered upgrade to the wireless infrastructure across campus over the next few months. We will be doing one building at a time. In each building, when the wireless upgrades are taking place, you may experience a wireless service disruption while we install and bring the new wireless online. How will I know when I have access to and using the 'new' wireless infrastructure?
You'll know you're connected to the new wireless networks when you see the new wireless network SSIDs (names), which will be PurchaseWifi and PurchaseGuest.
PurchaseWifi is for Purchase College Students, Faculty, and Staff. To get securely connected, you simply supply your email username and password.
PurchaseGuest is for guests of Purchase College Students, Faculty, and Staff. In order to provide your guest(s) with access to wireless, you must obtain the password to get connected on their behalf from here: www.purchase.edu/guestwifi. Please note, that the shared password for PurchaseGuest will be changed on a regular basis for security reasons. So, please make sure to check www.purchase.edu/guestwifi for changes to the password when you need to provide your guest(s) with access.
How do I connect to the new wireless networks?Aside from the new wireless network SSIDs (names), the process for connecting to the new networks will be largely the same. For detailed connection instructions see the the CTS Knowledge Base here: www.purchase.edu/help.
