Fire Evacuation

- IF YOU HEAR A FIRE ALARM, IMMEDIATELY EVACUATE THE BUILDING. YOU HAVE NO WAY OF KNOWING IF THIS IS JUST A DRILL.

- If you discover a fire, pull the fire alarm pull box, evacuate, call University Poice directly at 251-6911 or via the emergency phone and report the location of the fire, size of the fire.

- DO NOT USE ELEVATORS.

- Before leaving a room with a closed door, touch the door and check for heat.

- If there is smoke, you may need to crawl and follow the fire exit signs.

- Place handicapped individuals in a stairwell and advise the firefighters of their location.

- Once outside, remain at least 500 feet away from the building or gather at the designated meeting site for your particular residence hall or building.
