Commencement will take place on Friday, May 13, 2016 in the Westchester County Center at 198 Central Avenue, White Plains, NY 10606.

Senior Projects

Senior Project titles are published in the Commencement Program.  In order to have your Senior Project title included in the program, you must fill out this survey by Friday, March 11, at the latest.

All students who are graduating this spring have a senior project submission page in Moodle.  See for instructions on setting up your senior project via Moodle, including format, submission, etc.  If for some reason, you don’t have a page, please<

Student Check In
Students should arrive between 10:30am and 11:00am.  Doors to the Westchester County Center will open for families at 11:00am.

Students with Special Needs
Students requiring special assistance at the Commencement Ceremony should fill out and submit this survey as soon as possible.

Snacks will be served during the line up process. Please do not bring any bags with you to the County Center or leave them with a family member.

To Commencement from Purchase: 

On campus stops will include Campus Center North and Campus Center South.  Service will begin from CCN at 8:30AM and provide continuous service to Westchester County Center with the final drop occurring at The Center at 11:30AM.

To Purchase from Commencement:

Return service from The Center will begin at 3:15PM.  Service will conclude at 5:30PM with a final drop at Purchase.

Where will faculty be after the ceremony?
Faculty will be located outside of the County Center immediately following the ceremony.

Travel Details

From New York City The Westchester County Center is a 35 minutes by car, 40 minutes by bus and 30 minutes by train.



Free Parking is available at the venue. There are over 700 parking spaces at three locations. The County Center East and West lots located at 198 Central Avenue and the North White Plains lot located at Fisher Lane in White Plains.


There are permit parking spots that should be avoided, so please be sure to avoid those parking spaces.

Public Bus Service

The Westchester County Center  is served by the Westchester County BeeLine Bus System Call 914-813-7777 for bus information


Bus Service From Campus
To Commencement from Purchase:

Seating is available after 11:00am on a first-come, first-serve basis (Tickets are required).

The Commencement processional will begin at 12:30pm. 

The Commencement ceremony will begin promptly at 1:00pm and should end by 3:15pm.


Gifts for Students

Fresh cut flowers, balloons and other merchandise will be available for purchase on site at the County Center.


Will I be able to take a photo of my student graduating?

A photograph will be taken of the graduating seniors as they receive their diploma cover. Proofs and order cards will be mailed to their home address; you are not obliged to buy these photographs.


Will the ceremony be available to watch online?


Commencement will be broadcast live on the web. Those wishing to view Commencement online can go to to be brought directly to the webcast. They can also go to the Purchase College homepage ( and click on “Live” located below the links on the left side of the page. (This “Live” link is not currently there, but it will be there by Commencement day).



Will students receive invitations to send to guests?

Invitations are sent to the home address of each student in mid-April.

How many tickets will each graduate receive?

2 tickets will be provided to the student when they pick up their cap and gown at the Graduation Fair.  Each senior will have an opportunity to purchase 2 additional tickets for $5 each when the student picks up their cap and gown. 

If you need extra tickets beyond the two tickets included in your grad pack and the additional two tickets that you're allowed to purchase, you may sign up on our Wait List.  If additional tickets become available, students on the Wait List will be notified in the order that they submitted their request for additional tickets.  

*Please note that guests without tickets will not be admitted.

When will I be notified about all Commencement activities?

Notifications will be sent to student email addresses in mid-February.



County Center is wheelchair accessible.  Closed Captioning services will be provided.  First aid service will also be available in case of an emergency.


Upon arrival to the County Center, guests should follow signs with the Handicap symbol to the reserved parking and drop-off area. Guests will be greeted by a Commencement volunteer who will assist them to a reserved seating area.  These guests must have a ticket.  Parking in the Reserved Area will be for persons who have a Handicap permit only.
