Event: Critical/Process: From Tradition to Technology Panel Discussion
Location: Neuberger Museum of Art
Information about this event: Panel discussion.  Lilly Wei, curator and art critic, and Brian Clyne, animator, discuss critical aesthetic, artistic and practical issues pertaining to artists interested in employing technology-based formats, such as animation, to push their work in traditional media forward.  Presented in conjunction with the exhibition Sharon Louden: Character and moderated by Dede Young, Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art.

Sharon Louden: Character, on view through June 18, features paintings, drawings, serigraphs, and sculpture, and premieres five new works of animation that explore the potential of drawing as a primary medium.  Noted for its “character,” Louden’s work exudes personality, integrity, spirit, and charm; it also represents forms that, although abstract and formal, have human-like characteristics produced in gestural line. Viewed in a dual setting of light and darkness, the work in this striking exhibition invite the visitor into an active dialogue on the subject and definition of drawing as well as invention in minimalist abstract work.

$6 General public / $3 Museum members / FREE to Purchase College faculty, staff and students.
