MEN'S SWIM & DIVE
Purchase, NY (Feb. 15, 2010) – The Purchase College men’s swim team concluded their first varsity season on a high note, riding a five-meet win streak right into the Skyline Conference Championships, where the Panthers finished fourth overall.
After competing as a club sport the past couple of years, the Panthers, under the guidance of famed coach Peter Nestel, made the jump to competitive meets that matter in 2010-11.
The Panthers dropped the first three meets of the season, including a tough final to eventual Skyline champion SUNY Maritime in early November, but rallied the rest of the way, especially in the second half of the season, where Purchase reeled off five straight victories to close out the regular season schedule.

Among the highlights of the winning streak was Purchase’s victory over conference foe Old Westbury and the team’s regular season finale against York College – an overwhelming 142-66 road win. The Panthers wrapped the winter campaign with a strong finish at championships, which were hosted by OW. August Cook shined in the finale.
The Panthers were led by Cook, who finished the season with consecutive Skyline honor roll mentions. Adam Alkilany joined a terrific rookie season, where he was once named Skyline Rookie of the Week. Sebastian Restrepo and Joshua Nielson also topped the conference’s weekly honors during the season as the Panthers boosted a long, talented roster in their first full year of intercollegiate competition.
Boone Nolan, Joseph Doino, Daniel Berry, Daniel Nation, Derek Schnebly, Will Stevens, Mike Zeffiro and Seth Feingersh were among the strong cast in 2010-11.
A bright future lies ahead for the men’s swim program.
