Purchase, NY (Nov. 5, 2010) – The road toward a Skyline Conference Championship is getting clearer for the Purchase College men’s golf team.
The Panthers in only their second year as a varsity sport continued to climb the ladder of success. Standout rookie Ian Cumming led Purchase to a fourth-place finish at championships in a season that was filled with a mixture of highs and lows, but mostly more positives than negatives.

Cumming finished eighth individually at the Bethpage State Park Red Course, taking home All-Skyline honors. Purchase totaled 657, finishing behind tournament champion Farmingdale State (597), second-place St. Joseph’s College (627) and third-place the Sage Colleges (647).
The Panthers had three third-place finishes this fall, including one in the team’s second home invitational.
First-year head coach Jonathan Margolies, an accomplished player and pro, did a nice job replacing former head coach Andrew Farrell. The Panthers played better and better as the season progressed, with rookies Cumming, John Schifano, Miller Lulow, Esteban Cervantes and John Magurno maturing over the course of the season.
Captain Jonas Borra provided leadership, while fellow senior Adam Hoyle ended his career on a high note, playing well in several tournaments. Returnees Mike Zeffiro and Taylor Gesel also turned in fine seasons for the Panthers.
Purchase returns everyone but Borra and Hoyle next fall as their quest for a Skyline title continues in Year 3.
