Winter Orientation is a 1-day event that takes place on January 22nd, before classes begin. It is mandatory for all incoming students. Orientation is one day of fast-paced programming designed to introduce new students to campus life, resources on and off campus, advising/registration, academics and to also meet fellow incoming students!
All students attending will be part of a small group of students with an Orientation Leader (OL) as a guide. The OL will answer any questions that you have about Purchase and also will get you acquainted with other new students.
Students and Parents should plan to check in between 9:00am-9:30am at the Social Sciences Building Lobby. There will be signs around campus directing you to check-in. The Orientation concludes by 6:00pm.
Students who will be living in the residence halls or apartments for the Spring semester will be expected to check-in on Monday, January 21st between 1:00pm-4:00pm. You will receive dinner that evening and will be expected to attend programs about living on campus. When you check-in, you will also be checking in for orientation and will receive your schedule for the following day at that time. If you have questions about your residential assignment or about residence life in general, please call 914-251-6320.
Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner are provided to all students attending orientation. If you have special dietary needs, please contact us to make special arrangements.

“The orientation was very helpful. It would have been confusing if we had to figure all this out by ourselves.” - Danny Wei, Graduate student from
“Since I had never been abroad before, and spoke very little English, I was scared to go to orientation and speak to people. I’m glad I went because everyone was very nice and helpful and it made things very clear.” - Kit Shan Lee, Undergrad from
