Blackboard / ERES Troubleshooting Guide
If you cannot login to Blackboard™ and/or ERes, make sure that you:
- activate your Purchase College Exchange email account by going to Student Services on the Web. Upon activation, change your email password to something that you will be able to remember. Can you now check your Purchase email? You must have an active and working Purchase email account in order to access either system.
- use Internet Explorer as your web browser. The AOL and Safari web browsers do not support Blackboard / ERes. Alternative web browsers: Mozilla Firefox, Opera
- disable your pop-up blocker software to allow the login dialogue box to appear.
- use the proper username for your computer.
Your username is determined by your computer’s operating system (OS):
Windows 98/95/NT/ME, your username is: firstname.lastname
Windows XP and Mac, your username is: firstname.lastname@purchase.edu
(Your Purchase College email address)
Windows XP and Mac, you could alternatively use: tnt_lan\firstname.lastname
- know your password. Your Blackboard / ERes password is the same password used to access your Purchase email.
New Blackboard users / update your personal information
Once you are logged into Blackboard, under Tools on the left side, click on “Personal Information” to update your account information. Provide only your first name, last name, and your Purchase College email address.
“Enroll” into your Blackboard course page(s)
Once you’ve logged in, you may not yet be “enrolled” in any courses on the system.
* *Use of the term “enroll” in this context only refers to Blackboard and not the Registrar, as the two systems are not integrated.
- Click on the blue “Courses” tab and then click the orange “Go” button to view a list of all courses on the Blackboard system or search for a keyword in the search field.
- Locate your course and click on the “Enroll” button to the right.
- Click “Submit” and you will receive a receipt of your enrollment.
- Click “OK.” You will now be brought to your course’s home page.
- Remember to always Logout.
