TAXIS

Although taxis can be expensive, it may be a safer way to travel at night.  Only yellow taxis are licensed in the City of New York and are available on most streets by simply standing on the curb and waving for one to stop. By law, the fare is the exact amount shown on the meter with $.50 added after 8:00 pm and before 6:00 am.  Peak hour weekday surcharge is $1.00 from Monday to Friday after 4:00 pm and before 8:00 p.m.  You can pay by credit card or with cash.  Requesting  a receipt may be helpful if you leave anything in the taxi or you believe you have been overcharged.   Complaints can be reported to the New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission at:  www.nyc.gov/taxi.

In Westchester, you must call for a taxi to pick you up, although sometimes taxis wait for arriving trains at Metro North Stations or the airport.

Arrow Taxi is a local service you may try, (914)644-8811.
