All international students and scholars are required to obtain health insurance.  The SUNY insurance plan can support your needs, as well as meet SUNY and US Department of State (for J-1 visa holders and dependents) minimum requirements.  You also have the option of using your own international insurance that meets these requirements.  All health insurance coverage must be in effect on the day you arrive in the US and throughout the time you are in the United States. 

Insurance for your family is also very important for your peace of mind.  Family members of Purchase students and visiting scholars can enroll in the SUNY program provided by HTH Worldwide.

Family Coverage Summary: 

• Medical Expenses: Maximum $100,000 with $50 deductible per injury/sickness (the primary participant will receive maximum $200,000 with $50 deductible)
• Physician Office Visits/Inpatient Hospital and Physician Outpatient Services: 100% of reasonable expenses after deductible
• Prescription Drugs: small co-payment
