Sometimes students feel stressed from the pressure of college study and personal relationships and want to talk to someone. Often they go to the Counseling Center. The Purchase College Counseling Center offers free, confidential assistance for personal problems and emotional development. The Center offers individual counseling, group counseling, crisis-intervention, initial psychiatric consultation, evaluations and referrals and is staffed by experienced mental health professionals who are sensitive to the special issues international students face staying in the U.S. All appointments are confidential.
The Office for Students with Special Needs is also located in the Counseling Center and is called the Access and Accommodations Office. This office oversees all accommodations for students with disabilities (mobility, sensory, learning, health-related). In addition, the 24-hour Crisis Hotline for victims of crisis, sexual assault, and rape is staffed by Certified Rape Counselors. The Helpline number is Ext. 4393.
