The Neuberger Museum

The Neuberger Museum of Art is the premier museum of modern, contemporary and African art in Westchester and Fairfield Counties.

A teaching museum, the Neuberger promotes the appreciation and enjoyment of the visual arts as inseparable from an understanding of their place in cultural and intellectual history and their relevance to contemporary social life.

As an integral part of Purchase College and a vital center of community engagement, the Neuberger supports lifelong learning by taking a critical, interdisciplinary approach to its collections, exhibitions and public programs.

Collections
The Museum's permanent collection was established in 1969 with an extraordinary gift of more than 900 works of mid twentieth century art from the collection of financier Roy R. Neuberger. Today it comprises more than 7,000 paintings, drawings, prints, photographs, sculptures, installations and videos, and embraces 20th century American and European art, traditional and contemporary African art, and a growing collection of the art of our time from throughout the world. Highlights from these permanent collections are on view at all times in dedicated galleries.

Exhibitions
Founding patron Roy R. Neuberger is celebrated for championing the art of his time, and the Museum continues his commitment by presenting more than a dozen changing exhibitions each year that range from retrospectives of the work of one artist to thematic surveys of contemporary art to newly commissioned artist projects. From the traditional to the cutting edge, all Neuberger exhibitions are presented in viewer friendly settings with a variety of educational materials intended to make even the most unfamiliar and challenging content accessible to a wide range of audiences.

Public Programs
Year-round public programs such as curator and docent led exhibition tours, artist lectures, hands-on workshops, concerts, dance performances, readings, social events and family festivals are offered by the Museum to amplify visitor learning opportunities. Many public programs are free with admission; most are free to members.
