Assess Your Scholarship Potential

The first step in the fellowship application process is to consider your potential for success.  Applying for a scholarship or fellowship demands not only your time, but that of your advisors, recommenders, and professors as well.

Before meeting with the fellowship advisor, you should take note of:

  • your GPA
  • leadership activities
  • community service involvement
  • research initiatives
  • future academic / study plans
  • personal & professional goals

Visit the scholarship websites of those to which you intend to apply, and read the biographies of past recipients for a frame of reference to guide your aims and application process. Additionally, read through the links on the Guidelines page of this website; this will prepare you to understand and tackle the application process.
