Community Art Exchange Residency
The Community Arts Exchange Residency is a three week hybrid program which will expose students to the field of international development, giving them an opportunity to volunteer in leading art projects with local panamanian youth, as well as be a part of our mobile artist community, creating personal work in a shared studio space. We will also be engaging in a dialogue that will explore our roles as artists in our own communities, our universities, and examples of art for social change. To facilitate these discussions we will be visited weekly by Panamanian Artists, read relevant critical texts, and watch films that explore these ideas, reflecting on how they relate to our own world views.
Visit our website to find a weekly itinerary, program costs and application information Community Art Exchange
Program runs from July 1 to 21, 2014.

NYCC AmeriCorps VISTA Informational Meetings
• Are you looking for resources to help develop or advance your campus-community partnership? • Do you want to develop your institution’s capacity to better address community needs? • Do you need someone to help launch a new program that will match your institutional strengths with your community’s assets to fight poverty?
Consider applying for a New York Campus Compact AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) position. VISTA members commit full-time for a year at nonprofit organizations or local government agencies to build the capacity of these organizations to carry out programs that tackle poverty. VISTAs recruit and manage community volunteers, raise funds, and help manage projects. VISTAs support programs that improve literacy, expand job opportunities, develop financial assets, reduce homelessness, and improve health services. They also support programs that increase housing opportunities, increase economic opportunities for low-income veterans and military families, and expand access to technology for those living in rural and urban areas of poverty across America. Find out more about the NYCC AmeriCorps VISTA program and how it can help you build the capacity of your campus-community partnership to effectively address local community needs. Plan to attend one of our free VISTA informational meetings: • April 21st 10:00-12:00pm at Hobart and William Smith Colleges • May 14th 1:00-3:00pm at Niagara University • May 21st 2:00-4:00pm at Broome Community College
