Each year, the Career Development Center sponsors career panels in which alumni and professionals from various fields visit our campus to provide an excellent opportunity for students to learn about career possibilities.

How to Succeed in the Arts:
A Professional Career Strategy Workshop for All Artists
Brainard Carey, Purchase Alumnus

Tuesday, October 12th,  5:00-6:30pm

This workshop will teach you the tricks of the trade including the following and much more:

  • Getting into a gallery, a museum, and launching a public project.
  • Get a grant, win a fellowship, and juried shows with the right techniques.
  • How to get any curators email address and what to do with it.
  • How to write an Artists' Statement that is worth reading.
  • How to make enough money from your art so you can avoid a day job.
  • How to get whatever you want from the art world without compromising in any way.

Brainard Carey is the co- founder of the art collective known as Praxis which he created with his wife.  Praxis is an internationally acclaimed art collaborative whose works have been featured in the Whitney Biennial, MOMA, PS 1, and The Reina Sofia and most recently in a solo show at The Whitney Museum.  Currently Praxis has several traveling shows in progress.  Brainard Carey also helps artist to develop their professional practice.
