Project Specifications
The overall aesthetic of the campus is a key consideration whenever rehabilitation, renovation or construction occur on the buildings. Retaining a consistent color palette and visible texture is essential to maintaining the standard set by Purchase College's original architecture.
Details such as roof cornices are given as much attention by our CFP architects as major and multiple visible components such as the pavers (tiles) on the Plaza and the windows on the Library façade.
The cornice was part of a total roof removal and replacement for the Social Science Building. Special considerations have been given to using more "green" building material: for example, a cool (in white, which is reflective) top layer will contribute to reducing the carbon footprint and improving the energy efficiency of the building by keeping the roof cooler in the summer. This will lead to energy savings as the building will actually keep cooler and feel cooler.
