Jessica Malone-Atkinson '06 (design tech) founded The Spark Group LLC in the middle of the "Great Recession" and is such a success that she now has 20 clients, including Macy's and The Westchester and employs a staff of five. In 2007 Jessica married her college sweetheart, Troy Atkinson '04.

From 1997-2006 Jessica worked for a local catering company, Caperberry Events, working her way up the chain as a waitress, bartender, Floor Captain and eventually Maitre'd. She interned with Robert Brill for 6 months in 2004 and worked on Roundabout's Production of Assassins, Eve Ensler's Good Body, Disney Theatrical's On the Record and a production of The Wiz for La Jolla Playhouse in California. She also had a professional internship with Walt Disney Entertainment's Art Department in Orlando, Florida for 6 months, where she acted as Assistant to the Art Director. In 2005 she created props for Bloomberg's 2005 Summer Party, was Scenic Charge Artist for The Tempest at Shakespeare on the Sound in Rowaytan, CT, and Production Assistant for Disney Theatrical's Aerial Lab of Tarzan at Purchase College.

After graduating in 2006 with a BFA in scenic design, Jessica worked as Scenic Charge Artist on Macbeth at Shakespeare on the Sound in Rowaytan, CT. She spent three months as a Draftsman for Design Contact. She co-designed Nancy Bannon & Brian MacDevitt's Pod Project with fellow DT classmate Brian Howard '06. She was the Assistant Art Director for Bloomberg's 2007 Summer Party, which she worked on with Hotopp Associates. She soon became Associate Event Planner for Victoria Dubin Events, a position she held until 2010 when she launched Spark Group.

Spark Group is an Event, Design & Production Company. They designed the Macy's 2010 Christmas Windows for all Flagship stores nation wide. In the last year, Spark Group has designed and produced dozens of events in the Tri-State area, as they continue to grow. Spark Group was awarded a "Best of Westchester" award for 2010.
