Who may apply:
a. Persons holding an undergraduate degree (not neccesarily in theatre) or the equivalent from an accredited college in the United States or an approved institution of higher education abroad.
b. Persons who are enrolled for a bachelor's degree who are in their senior year.
Follow these instructions when applying to Purchase College as a Design Technology MFA Program applicant.
Note: International Applicants must follow the international application instructions.
Step 1: Submit your completed Purchase College Graduate Application.
Note: Completed application must be received by April 1, 2008.

Step 2: Include with your application packet the following items:
- a Non-Refundable Application fee of $50 (payable to
"Purchase College")
- Official transcripts (in envelopes sealed by the registrar) from all
undergraduate schools attended.
- Three letters of recommendation (at least one letter should be
from a professional in your program of study)
- If you are not a U.S. citizen, you must request and complete
the Purchase College International Application.
- NO APPLICATIONS WILL BE CONSIDERED UNLESS ALL
THE ABOVE ITEMS ARE INCLUDED WITH YOUR
APPLICATION.
Step 3: Interview/Portfolio Review
All applicants must attend a personal interview and portfolio review with a member of the faculty. The portfolio material should include a current resumé, representative samples of prior undergraduate and/or professional work.
- Scenic Design majors - examples of: drawing and painting
ability, theatrical designs, drafting, models.
- Lighting Design majors - examples of: lighting plots, hook-ups,
color charts, draftings, and when possible, examples of drawing
and painting ability
- Costume Design majors - examples of: drawing and painting
ability, theatrical designs, costumes and/or clothing
constructed.
- Technical Direction majors - examples of: drafting and technical
drawings.
All candidates are welcome to bring photographs, slides and any other materials to the portfolio review which they believe will support their application.
The interview/portfolio review is an essential requirement of the admission procedure. However, applicants are urged to complete all documentation beforehand, since no final decision can be reached without complete materials. The entire class is limited to a select number of students, so it will not be possible to confirm admission and hold space for a candidate without the full documentation.
There is an Interview Fee of $45. Interviews are conducted on the Purchase campus, in New York City, Chicago, and San Francisco. Please call the Design Technology Office at (914) 251-6850 to make arrangements for an appointment.

Applicants will be acted on and admission ofered only when the application fee, required transcripts, and letters of reference have been received and only after the interview/portfolio review.
