Admission Requirements

Who may apply:

  • Persons holding an undergraduate degree or the equivalent from an accredited college in the United States or an approved institution of higher education abroad.
  • Persons who are enrolled for a bachelor's degree who are in their senior year

Step 1: Apply Online:

Submit your application and your portfolio and pay the non-refundable $85 application fee ($75 graduate application fee plus the $10 SlideRoom submission fee) online at A complete online application will contain:

  • Completed graduate application forms
  • Personal Statement
  • 1-2 writing samples 
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • Portfolio of work
  • A nonrefundable application fee of $85  payable online with a valid credit card or electronic check. This fee includes the $75 graduate application fee and the $10 SlideRoom submission fee.

Step 2: Complete Your Application:

Submit all of the following information required to complete your application together in one package:

  • Official transcripts (in envelopes sealed by the registrar) from all schools attended
  • *TOEFL score, if required (see International Student Application Instructions)

Your application will not be considered complete until you have submitted all required official transcripts and, if applicable, test scores to the above address.

*Note: International students may have TOEFL or IELTS scores submitted electronically.


At the time of application online, all students must submit  the portfolio along with the $85 graduate application fee ($75 graduate application fee plus the $10 SlideRoom submission fee). Please submit only one portfolio to the School of Art+Design major program of your choice.

Applicants should upload images (jpg) and documents (pdf), and may upload video (mov). For good image quality and fast upload time, your image files should be sized around 1024 x 768 pixels @ 72 dpi. You must keep all files under 5MB.

Portfolio Requirements:
Your uploaded portfolio must consist of no more than 15 examples of your work. Please upload your images in reverse chronological date order, from your most recently completed work to your earliest work.

Additional Portfolio Information:

Detail shots: You may shoot details of particular works if appropriate. Be sure to indicate if an example is a detail shot.

Multiple views: You may wish to include more than one image of a sculpture, since a single view may not describe it adequately.

Finalist Interview Date: TBA

Selected students will be interviewed. Interviews are by invitation only based upon review of the portfolio submitted to
