The Environmental Studies B.A. Program: Student Learning Outcomes

(2010-11)

Students graduating from the environmental studies program have the ability to:

  1. Write and speak clearly and persuasively;
  2. Reason quantitatively in a scientific context;
  3. Identify and discuss the origins of current, major environmental problems facing society;
  4. Apply principles of ecology and other natural sciences to environmental issues;
  5. Integrate concepts from the natural and social sciences in the analysis of environmental problems;
  6. Conduct research tasks individually and work cooperatively in the manner required for professional work in the environmental field;
  7. Use the computer as a tool for data collection and analysis, and the public presentation of ideas and results.
