Purchase College offers an assortment of valuable services for its students through the Natural and Social Sciences’ Office of Student Support Services. Students are encouraged to visit this office to obtain information and assistance with tutoring, mentoring, financial aid, or academic advising.

Office of Student Support Services

The Office of Student Support Services provides a friendly and welcoming environment – a place for students to go to when they need help. This office offers tutoring and mentoring services to students, and provides financial aid information and academic advisement. Students are offered the assistance and guidance they need to help them succeed in their academic studies and achieve their career goals.

Located in room 3029 of the Natural Sciences building, the office is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and is staffed by Theresa James, its office director. Students are welcome to visit this office to get information and assistance.

The Office of Student Support Services also partners with the Admissions and Registrar’s office, and works with the Purchase College Office of Career Development to counsel students on graduate and medical school admissions, and provide information on employment opportunities after graduation.

Services Offered:

Einstein Corner
Einstein Corner provides students with free top-quality tutoring assistance in the areas of psychology, mathematics, chemistry, biology and the behavioral sciences.

Mentoring Club
Through the Mentoring Club, students are assigned a peer-mentor with whom they meet with several times per semester.

Financial Aid Information and Academic Advising
The Office of Student Support Services works closely with other offices on campus such as the Learning Center and the Admissions, Registrar and Career Development departments to advise students on academic plans, graduate school, medical school, and employment after graduation.

Collegiate Science &Technology Entry Program (CSTEP)
CSTEP offers qualified underrepresented and economically disadvantaged students, interested in careers in science, services such as: research experience, peer tutoring, career counseling and faculty advisement and mentoring.
