The Friends of Humanities
is a community of learners dedicated to the educational
enrichment of the School of Humanities at Purchase College.
Over the past 20 years, THE FRIENDS have contributed more than
$250,000 to the following:
- Supporting new courses and new programs, such as journalism and
creative writing
- Supporting faculty development
- Funding a scholarship awarded each year to an outstanding junior
- Underwriting the annual Awards Luncheon honoring achievement
by students in the School of Humanities
- Sponsoring mini-courses, lectures, and seminars taught by
School of Humanities faculty exclusively for the Friends of Humanities.
Topics of recent mini-courses include Marcel Proust, modern and
contemporary art, and Philip Roth.
Members can audit courses on a space available basis, beginning the second week of the semester, after student registration has closed. Registration to audit courses occurs at the Registrar’s Office and there is a $65 per semester audit fee.
