Typical Day About the Instructors
This four-week precollege program is for high school students focused on performance skills and theatre production. Students will experiment, create, and train in acting, improvisation, movement, voice, singing, and dance. Exercises are designed to build character development, style of movement, voice production, collaboration, and theatrical problem-solving. Lively, constructive discussions and frequent one-on-one interactions with instructors lead to exciting development and growth. The program develops the abilities of experienced performers who are serious about the field and eager to work hard. Our goal is to help you grow creatively through theatrical training under the direction of professional performers and instructors. Develop your performance skills while gaining a behind-the-scenes view of theatre that combines music, drama, and dance. Classes aim to improve your command of your body, mind, and voice, so that combined they become the expressive instrument of an actor. Instructors provide training in audition technique, useful professionally and for college entrance auditions.
To broaden exposure to the arts, the Musical Theatre Institute can be combined with the Songwriting Workshop or Journalism Institute to make for a well-rounded summer experience!
