Terese
Capucilli was born in Syracuse, New York, the middle child in a family
of seven children. The daughter of Dan Theresa Capucilli of Westvale, she
attended St. Cecilia’s School and Westhill High School while studying
everything from tap to ballet with Augustine Skapura and later studied at
Syracuse Ballet Theatre. Following in the footsteps of her older brothers
and sisters she became very involved in musical theater. As a member of
the St. Cecilian Players directed by Mario DeSantis and also a member of
the Pampeiian Player directed by Monsignor Charles Bourgoni, Capucilli
performed in many musical productions presented by both groups. High
School brought opportunities to study voice (with Bill Black) and to
choreograph and perform in many choral works, rock operas and musicals. In
her senior year; having never see modern dance before, Capucilli
discovered ‘Graham’ technique with Joni Consroe at Syracuse Ballet’s
school. Wanting to find a college where she could do
"everything…dance, sing, act…", Consroe suggested Purchase
where she knew Dean Bill Bales. Consequently, she choreographed a solo for
Capucilli and wrote a letter of recommendation. Capucilli auditioned and
was accepted.
In 1974, Terese attended the State University of New York at Purchase
where she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Dance 1978. Upon
graduation, she was offered a scholarship at the Martha Graham Center of
Contemporary Dance in New York City.
In March of 1979, Ms. Capucilli was asked to join the Martha Graham
Dance Company. The same year she was one of four performers chosen to
dance in the honor of Martha Graham in the CBS-TV presentation of the
Kennedy Center Honors. The following year, in the featured role of Young
Clytemnestra, she was partnered by Rudolf Nureyev at the Metropolitan
Opera House in New York City.
Performing principal roles with the Company since 1982, she has danced
a wide range of classic roles, among them over twenty-five originally
performed by Martha Graham. Capucilli has become known for her
interpretation of the lead role in nearly every revival presented by the
Company since 1983.
During the years, Ms. Capucilli has also performed with the companies
of Mel Wong. Kazuko Hirabayashi, Marcus Schulkins, Jean-Louis Morin and
James Sewell and was a founding member of Elisa Monte Dancers, with whom
she has appeared as a guest artist. Ms. Capucilli is also an Associate
Founder of Buglisi/Foreman Dance, a company formed with colleagues
Jacqulyn Buglisi, Donlin Foremen and Christine Dakin.
Ms. Capucilli is a faculty member of the Martha Graham Center of
Contemporary Dance and has taught as a guest teacher at Purchase College and
The Juilliard School. She has also held master classes, and workshops
throughout the United Sates, Canada and Europe and conducts lectures of
the nature of the reconstruction process of Martha Graham’s early solos.
Terese is featured in photographs by Lisa Levart and Martha Swope in
Donlin Foreman’s book OUT OF MARTHA’S HOUSE. Ms. Capucilli is a
recipient of a 1985-86 Dance Fellowship from the Princess Grace
Foundation-USA and the following year was awarded the Princess Grace
Statuette for her continued work with the Graham Company.

Jennifer
Jiles
'88, (formerly
Jennifer Blumberg) is a New York based actress and comedienne. She was
born and raised in Poughkeepsie, New York. After graduating with a BFA
from the School of the Arts Dance Division at Purchase College, Jennifer
moved to New York to pursue her career as a professional entertainer.
Jiles’ extensive credits include the National tour of The Odd
Couple starring Tim Conway and Tom Poston, and Mame starring
Samantha Egger and Shani Wallis, in which she played Agnes Gooch. For
this role, she received numerous good reviews notably from Alvin Klein
of the New York Times, "Jennifer Jiles is pleasantly
believable and welcomely less exaggerated then the usual Agnes Gooch, a
misfit in her orthopedic oxfords."
She has appeared in commercials, most recently for the Olive Garden
Restaurant, and has danced as a Rockette at Radio City Music Hall.
What makes Jennifer Jiles so unique is her versatility. She has that
attractive "show girl look" but can transform herself into
many different characters creating laughter with each one. She showcases
her comedic range each week performing sketch comedy with Third Rail
Comedy in Greenwich Village, NY.
Ms. Jiles is also ebullient host of the New York Emmy Award winning
SportsChannel show, DYNAMETS!, a New York Mets baseball show for
kids. Watch the show, but observe the children as much as you do Ms.
Jiles. You will feel the chemistry and you will sense something special.
Part of it is talent, part of it is love, all of it is pure Jennifer
Jiles. Perhaps this is why Jiles is actively involved in numerous
children’s charities including: Saint Jude’s Champions for charity,
the National Center for Disabilities Services in Albertson, NY, and the
Valerie Fund, a New Jersey Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorder
charity for which she serves as Celebrity Emissary and valued member of
the President’s Committee on Celebrity Participation. Perhaps, as
well, watch as Jennifer Jiles hosts the DYNAMETS!/Valerie Fund
Holiday Show and feel how your heart tugs as you see The Valerie Fund
children are drawn to her light.
